Dr Ed Boets specialises in cataract and strabismus (squint) surgery and provides comprehensive ophthalmic services for the Mackay, Moranbah and Whitsunday Region. Dr Boets graduated in medicine in 1990.

After compulsory military service at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Central Military Hospital in Utrecht, he completed his ophthalmic training at the University Medical Centre Leiden in 1998 and obtained the diploma of the European Board of Ophthalmology. He then worked as a staff specialist at the University Medical Centre Maastricht (Netherlands).

From 1999 to 2007, he ran his own practice in Utrecht before moving to Australia. In 2008 Dr Boets became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
