Dr Michael Cheesman
Dr Michael Cheesman is a general orthopaedic surgeon. His area of special interest is lower limbs (hip and knee surgery), where he operates using computer navigation and the latest patient specific instrumentation.
He completed his medical education at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and from 2007 to 2008 practiced as an independent orthopaedic surgeon providing orthopaedic trauma cover for Sunninghill, Olivedale and Fourways Life Hospitals.
In 2009 Dr Cheesman and his family relocated to Australia, where he completed a clinical placement at Ipswich Hospital. He passed his FRACS final orthopaedic examination in 2010 and obtained Fellowship of FRACS in 2011. Dr Cheesman is a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and is currently Director of Orthopaedic Training at the Mackay Base Hospital.
Dr Cheesman lives in Mackay and operates at Mater Private Hospital Mackay and the Mackay Base Hospital.
